Theatrical flopping very rarely works anymore in college basketball. Reviews of potential flagrant fouls have rendered it ineffective. But don’t tell Oregon’s Ehab Amin.
Amin’s entry in the 2019 NCAA tournament flop contest, during the second half of Thursday’s Sweet 16 game against top-seeded Virginia, is sure to be a winner:
Amin and Mamadi Diakite exchanged words after a rebound. They went forehead-to-forehead. In doing so, both drew technical fouls.
But before a referee could dole them out, Amin threw himself backwards to the floor. It was likely not the reason he or Diakite received technicals. Instead, it was just comical.
