Open practices are among fan events at NCHC Frozen Faceoff

Mar. 19—GRAND FORKS — The National Collegiate Hockey Conference will open Thursday practices to the public as part of the fan events scheduled surrounding the Frozen Faceoff.

UND will skate from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center.

Omaha will go from 10:15-11:15 a.m. St. Cloud State will skate from 12:45-1:45 p.m., and Denver will end the practices sessions from 2-3 p.m.

Doors open at 10 a.m. Fans should enter through Gate 1.

The NCHC Awards Banquet will be at 5:15 p.m. Thursday and streamed on NCHC.tv.

UND has several major award finalists including Jackson Blake (Player of the Year, Forward of the Year, Three Stars Award), Cameron Berg (Defensive Forward of the Year), Jake Livanavage (Rookie of the Year), Ludvig Persson (Goaltender of the Year) and Brad Berry (Herb Brooks Coach of the Year).

The annual fan skate will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Xcel Energy Center. Fans should enter through Gate 1. Rental skates will not be available and no sticks or pucks will be allowed on the ice.

The semifinal games will be held Friday.

Top-seeded UND takes on Omaha at 4 p.m., while St. Cloud State will play Denver at 7:30 p.m.

The championship game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

NCHC Fan Fest will be at Smorgie's Bar and Restaurant from 2-6 p.m. Friday and 4-7 p.m. Saturday. Smorgie's is located across West Seventh Street from Xcel Energy Center.

Friday's semifinals: UND vs. Omaha, 4 p.m.; St. Cloud State vs. Denver, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday's championship: Semifinal winners, 7:30 p.m.
