Olentangy Berlin's Tayten Swain is OSU Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of Week

In a vote that ended March 1, Dispatch.com readers selected the The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center high school Athlete of the Week for competitions that took place from before Feb. 25.

This week's winner is Olentangy Berlin gymnast Tayten Swain.

Swain won the all-around (38.3) at the district meet. She was first on beam (9.625), floor (9.75) and vault (9.7) and fifth on bars (9.225).

Swain received 31.9% of the vote and was followed by Hilliard Darby swimmer Alexis Peltcs, who received 20.1%, Bexley diver Jackson Monus (15.7%), St. Charles swimmer Jake Lloyd (6.9%), St. Charles swimmer Austin Carpenter (6.2%), Dublin Jerome swimmer Milly Leonard (5.9%), Dublin Coffman swimmer Emily Brown (4.4%), Upper Arlington swimmer Reid Caswell (3.1%), Grandview Heights swimmer Carrie Furbee (2.8%), Upper Arlington swimmer Hayden Hollingsworth (2.7%) and Westerville South basketball player Kruz McClure (1%).

Peltcs won the state title in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.73) and finished second in the 200 IM.

Monus won the Division II state championship, the school’s first state diving title.

Lloyd won the state title in the 50 free (20.28), was fifth in the 100 free (46.01) and was on the winning 200 medley relay (1:29.53) and runner-up 200 free relay (1:21.55).

Carpenter won the state title in the 100 breaststroke (54.31), was second in the 200 free (1:36.21) and was on the winning 200 medley relay (1:29.53) and runner-up 200 free relay (1:21.55).

Leonard won state titles in the 200 free (1:49.87) and 500 free (4:52.77).

Brown set state records in the 200 IM (1:57.27) and 100 fly (52.69) to become an eight-time individual state champion.

Caswell was second in the 500 Freestyle, fourth in the 200 free and was on 200 and 400 free relay events at the state meet.

Furbee defended her state titles in the 50 free (23.02) and 100 free (50.06).

Hollingsworth won a repeat 50 freestyle state championship (22.69) and placed second in the 100 fly. She also was on the winning 200 medley (1:42.82) and 200 free (1:32.76) relays.

McClure scored 33 points in a 48-32 win over Licking Heights.

The Athlete of the Week voting recognizes athletes across all sports.

Nominations are due Monday mornings for competitions that took place the previous week.

Once athletes win during the regular season, they're not eligible to be back on the ballot until the postseason. Athletes who have not been a recipient of one of the weekly awards can be nominated more than once.
