Oklahoma State fullback Braden Cassity declares for NFL Draft

Feb. 12—One of Oklahoma State's longest tenured players is going pro.

After six years with the Cowboys, fullback Braden Cassity has declared for the NFL Draft, as announced in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Monday afternoon.

"From a Fiesta Bowl victory to Bedlam wins, I am sad to say my career as a Cowboy is over. With that being said, I am preparing to continue my athletic career by declaring for the NFL Draft. Go Pokes!", Cassity wrote.

The move is more of a formality, as he had used all of his eligibility this past season and was unable to return next year.

In his six years in Stillwater, Cassity contributed in many ways. After redshirting in 2018, he found a role as a special teams staple, while also occasionally taking snaps at defensive end and as an extra blocker in set packages on offense.

Cassity settled into his spot as a starting Cowboy Back in 2021 — back when that was still the designation. He started 28 games over the next three seasons and became one of the best run blockers on the team.

Cassity played a pivotal role in Jaylen Warren's 1,200 rushing yard season in 2021 and in 2023's Doak Walker campaign from Ollie Gordon.

As a receiver, Cassity totaled 140 yards on 14 receptions.

With his departure, as well as the loss of UMass transfer Josiah Johnson, Oklahoma State is looking to fill the tight end and fullback roles for next season.

The most glaring replacement is another transfer portal acquisition, Ohio University tight end Tyler Foster. Foster has a huge frame at 6-7, 249 pounds, and he contributed 211 receiving yards to the Bobcats in 2023-24.

Other options include redshirt junior Quinton Stewart, who has one career catch; a two-yard touchdown during Bedlam in 2022. Another possibility comes from Tabry Shettron, brother of OSU wide receiver Talyn Shettron. Tabry has yet to record a stat for the Cowboys, but he was ranked the No. 38 tight end by ESPN and the No. 93 tight end by 247sports.
