Oklahoma State blasts 7 HRs, routs Texas Tech baseball in series opener

It was smooth sailing for Oklahoma State in the series opener against the Texas Tech baseball team. The Cowboys led 11-0 after three innings and coasted to a 16-4 victory Friday in Stillwater.

Texas Tech's first three batters of the game went down in order. The same could not be said for Oklahoma State (33-16, 16-9). Ryan Free got a groundout to open the bottom of the first before a home run, a triple and another home run in three-straight at-bats put the Cowboys up 3-0 in short order.

In total, the Cowboys blasted six home runs in the first three innings, four of them coming in an eight-run third inning.

Zach Ehrhard's solo homer in the first got things going for the Cowboys. Two batters later, Aidan Meola plated two with a drive out of the park himself.

In the third, Ian Daugherty, Lane Forsythe, Tyler Wulfert and Carson Benge each had home runs. Daugherty's was a three-run blast while Benge's plated two for Oklahoma State.

Cade McGee finally got Texas Tech (30-21, 12-16) into the scoring column with a solo home run in the fifth. Drew Woodcox hit a three-run blast in the top of the eighth.

In the bottom of the eighth, Brueggermann hit a grand slam, which followed a bases-loaded walk. Oklahoma State finished with seven home runs on the night.

Game two is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday with the series finale set for 2 p.m. on Sunday.
