OU outscored Kansas 30-4 in the series.

The Sooners once again got off to a quick start, with back-to-back home runs from Jennings and Brito in the first after Jayda Coleman’s leadoff single.

The Sooners’ pitchers leaned heavily on their defense, not striking out a batter until Karlie Keeney’s strikeout of Campbell Bagshaw to end the fourth.

Kierston Deal threw 2 ⅓ scoreless innings before giving way to Keeney for 2 ⅔.

SJ Geurin gave up a solo homer to Abby Carsley with one out in the sixth to break up the shutout before getting the next two batters.

Paytn Monticelli loaded the bases with one out in the seventh before Nicole May came on to put the game away.

May allowed a two-run single to her first batter before getting two consecutive outs to seal the victory.

Jayda Coleman hit a one-out home run in the second to stretch the Sooners’ streak of consecutive innings with at least one run to seven before OU was held without a run in the third despite Alynah Torres’ one-out double.

The Sooners put the game close to run-rule territory with three more in the fourth on back-to-back RBI singles from Brito and Kinzie Hansen before Torres brought across another run with a squeeze bunt.

Jennings and Brito were each 3 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs. Coleman and Hansen, who started at designated hitter before moving behind the plate later in the game, had two hits each as well.

OU returns to action with the first of a key three-game series at Texas beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Austin.
