Ohio State women's hockey to start ticketing home games at OSU Ice Rink for 2023-24 season

Starting in the 2023-24 season Ohio State women's hockey fans will have to buy tickets to watch games at the OSU Ice Rink.

The Buckeyes announced that starting with their first home series against Minnesota Oct. 27-28, fans will have to purchase a ticket to watch all home games, ranging between $4-$8 before fees for a general admission ticket. A limited number of student tickets will be available with a BuckID.

According to Ohio State, the decision to ticket women's hockey games was "made in support of the championship program and to enhance the gameday experience for both the student-athletes and fans."

The Buckeyes will host eight two-game regular season series in 2023-24, including a series against Wisconsin Nov. 17-18, which beat Ohio State for the 2023 national championship.

Ohio State has also hosted playoff games in each of the past two seasons.

Starting in the 2023-24 season, alcohol will be available to be purchased at concession stands during Ohio State women's hockey games.

In February, Ohio State University Board of Trustees approved plans to begin designing a new ice rink for Ohio State women's hockey on the athletic campus near the Covelli Center, the Ty Tucker Tennis Center and the Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium off Fred Taylor Drive.

The budget for the rink is to be determined, as the Board of Trustees approved $2.7 million to start the process of designing the new ice rink, which will determine the full scope, programming and project cost.

The project would include team locker rooms, an athletic lounge, team dining and nutrition, support services, offices for the coaching staff and team training and expansion of spectator seating capacity and broadcasting capabilities.

Construction for the rink would begin in June 2024 with the facility opening in April 2026.

Ohio State women's hockey coach Nadine Muzerall told The Dispatch in February that the new rink would only add to the Buckeyes' recruiting pitch.

“Now, I feel like they have very little that they can say about us because we’ve been doing it all — conference titles, final face-off championships, national championships,” Muzerall said. “I just think it’s only going to enhance our recruiting because why wouldn’t you choose the Ohio State?”

Tickets for Ohio State women's hockey games will go on sale Aug. 29 at 10 a.m.
