We are now just one day away from the titanic struggle in the Big Ten between two top ten ranked teams. No. 4 Ohio State hosts No. 7 Michigan State (CFP Rankings) at Noon in the ‘Shoe and there are some sizeable things at stake. The winner moves closer to a Big Ten East title and potential entry into the College Football Playoff.

Living in the moment of all things that is Ohio State football, Buckeye fans are fully aware of what’s at stake, and what the strengths and pitfalls of this team are. However, we like to get a view of what this game, and what the OSU program means for the opposition, especially with a contest of this magnitude.

So, we talked to our friends over at Spartans Wire. We asked publisher and featured writer Andrew Brewster to give us his take on this game and the Buckeye program from a Michigan State slant, and he had some very respectable, and very interesting things to say that we’re bringing to you.

NEXT … Ohio State vs. Michigan State from a Spartan perspective

What Andrew Brewster of Spartans Wire said about Ohio State and the game Saturday

“Ohio State is still Ohio State, and Michigan State fans know that. I think Spartan fans go into the Michigan game these days expecting to win. I think they go into match-ups against Ohio State hoping they get lucky and pull off a near miracle. The Buckeyes are still the team to beat in the Big Ten and that’s no different this year, except I think this year more than maybe any other year in the past decade, there do seem to be some chinks in the armor down in Columbus.

“The Ohio State defense is not up to the usual standard, and Kenneth Walker III might be the perfect weapon to take advantage of that weakness. Plus, Payton Thorne has shown a consistent ability to make the big play when the team needs it. This is a Michigan State team that has some clear flaws, but they’ve also shown that they can do what it takes to squeeze out a win.

“All that being said, this is still Ohio State, and like always, they are loaded with talent up and down the roster. CJ Stroud might throw for a billion yards in this one, considering the fact that the Spartans just made Aidan O’Connell look like Drew Brees two weeks ago. When you have a guy like Chris Olave at receiver, who low key might be having one of the best careers of any Big Ten wide receiver ever, and a running back who is every bit as good as Kenneth Walker III in Tre’Veyon Henderson, this could get out of hand quick and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if it does.

“If the Spartans are going to have any chance in this one, they are going to need to use their pass rush to force Stroud to make some mistakes, and then they will need to control the tempo of the game on offense using Kenneth Walker III. Every MSU fan is going to head into this game nervous as can be, knowing their squad will need to play next to perfect to beat Ohio State in the ‘Shoe, but unlike last year, I don’t think fans feel hopeless going into this one and that’s the best thing I can say about it.”

We’d like to thank Brewster for his time and thoughts on what should be one whale of a game on Saturday. We’ve also supplied an OSU perspective on this game, so head on over to Spartans Wire and check that out if you’d like. And if you know anyone that’s a Michigan State fan, we can tell you Brewster and his team do a fantastic job of covering all things green and white. Spread the word.

Ohio State and Michigan State are set to kick off at Noon EST on Saturday with ABC having the call after ESPN’s College GameDay gets things started from Columbus in the morning.
