Ohio State offensive lineman Avery Henry reveals cancer diagnosis
COLUMBUS – Ohio State offensive lineman Avery Henry revealed Monday night that he has been diagnosed with bone cancer.
“This isn’t the way I wanted to release this,” Henry said in a tweet, “but I know no other way. A couple of days ago I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.
“I will fight this! I have never been a statistic and I never will! I want to thank my brothers and coaches for the endless support!”

Henry is a freshman from St. Clairsville. He has not seen game action this season. Henry originally committed to Iowa State but signed with Ohio State because he wanted to be closer to home.
Henry was a four-year starter for St. Clairsville, which is in Belmont County near the West Virginia state line. He was a two-way lineman for the Red Devils, which finished 13-2 in 2021 and advanced to the Division IV regional finals.
