Ohio State fans hated Peacock broadcast of Buckeyes' game vs. Purdue: 'You guys suck'
No. 3 Ohio State soundly beat Purdue on Saturday, downing the Boilermakers with a convincing 41-7 victory — convincing, at least, to those who were able to watch the Buckeyes' game.
Indeed, fans who wanted to tune in and watch the Big Ten action were left frustrated from numerous issues with the Peacock-exclusive broadcast. According to tweets from several dissatisfied customers, the broadcast started off on a bad foot, featuring no pregame show (which comes with a Peacock Premium subscription).

It also reportedly experienced graphics errors, lagged and froze outright. The broadcast team reportedly made errors on the call, as well. It all led to what was a largely unsatisfactory viewing experience for Buckeyes fans who wanted to watch Ryan Day and Co. advance to 6-0 on the season (3-0 in Big Ten).
Representitives from NBC Universal did not immediately respond to a USA TODAY Network email requesting comment on Saturday's broadcast.
Here are some of the more notable complaints from the game, courtesy of tweets from X (formerly Twitter):

@peacock Ohio state game feed keeps freezing. We’re over two minutes behind live action. I want my money back

Peacock.... this is a joke guys. You pay all this money for this product. Millions of people tuning in and you can't do any pregame whatsoever? Is something wrong? What an embarrassment.

The worst part about THE Ohio State being on Peacock today is my local grocery story was packed during the game and half of them were watching on their phones.
I had to Heisman people left and right to get my gluten free bagels and whipped cream https://t.co/fA3cW8W1D5— Elaine Shircliff (@imaraindancer) October 14, 2023
You know what? I'm not gonna pay for Peacock. Not because I'm trying to take some pro-consumer principled stand...but because honestly, how often have I gotten eight dollars worth of enjoyment out of watching Ohio State at Purdue? This is the nudge I need to watch something else

How about no more Ohio State games on @peacock . It’s straight garbage.

Why was Ohio State-Purdue game on Peacock?
As part of the Big Ten's sweeping broadcast rights deal with Fox, CBS and NBC/Peacock, several Big Ten games throughout the season will be Peacock-exclusive broadcasts, part of NBC's drive to push more viewers to its dedicated streaming service.
The deal included eight Peacock-exclusive regular-season broadcasts, on top of as many as 47 regular-season men’s basketball games and 30 regular-season women’s basketball games.
If Peacock continues to have technical glitches and errors in its broadcasts, then its attempt to drive subscriptions to its service will certainly take a hit.
