Ohio State basketball to participate in 2023 Emerald Coast Classic
In case you’ve lost track of what’s coming this late fall for Ohio State basketball, the Buckeyes will make a return to Hawaii for a spot in this year’s Maui Classic from November 21 to 23. It’ll be the first time OSU took the trip out to the islands since 2003 under Thad Matta.
And while that’s exciting and I’m scrambling to work on my travel plans (I mean, an excuse to go to Hawaii right?), there’s more preseason tournament news of the future for the Ohio State hoops team to pass along.
According to Jon Rothstein, the Buckeyes are reportedly set to take place in the 2023 Emerald Coast Classic along with Oregon, Alabama, and another team to still be announced.
If you don’t know much about the Emerald Coast Classic, we don’t blame you. I mean, it’s not Hawaii, and it’s only been around since 2014. It takes place in Niceville, Florida (no joke), which is in the panhandle near Destin.

This year’s event will include TCU, Iowa, Clemson, and Cal, with the event being held on Nov. 25th and 26th at Raider Arena on the campus of Northwest Florida State College. A time and broadcast info will be shared for next year’s event at a later date.
