Off Their Game Week 16 - Russell Wilson

The Seahawks QB has tossed 37 TDs in 2020, but Matt Harmon explains why Wilson will struggle vs. the Rams.

Video Transcript

MATT HARMON: Yeah, listen, folks. I don't know how you made it this far if you have Russell Wilson on your championship lineup, but you're going to want to not play him this week. Look. Since they face the Rams last time, earlier in the season, this offense has started to really fall apart. That really was the beginning of the slip.

They've cleared 30 points just once since that game, and that was against the Jets. So that doesn't really count if you think about it, unless you're the Rams. So you can really galaxy brain yourself there. But at the same time, this stretch has also been rough for Russell Wilson.

He's thrown one or fewer touchdowns in several games. I think this passing offense has just really struggled to find a counterpunch when teams play two high safeties against them, because they're a vertically inclined passing game. Everything is down the field, and again, unfortunately, the Rams already showed us they have the perfect blueprint.

They like to play those two high safety's. They have Aaron Donald to get after the passer. They've got Jalen Ramsey to shadow DK Metcalf, and then they can just roll some coverage to Ty Lock. And it's an easy passing attack to defend right now, especially when you're one of the best defenses in the league.

There are a lot of guys, whether it's Ryan Tannehill, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts. Mitchell Trusbisky even might have a better week than Russell Wilson. It wouldn't surprise me if he just really tanks your championship. Again, don't know how you made it this far with Russ, but don't do it here in week 16.
