North Rockland lands in the lohud boys basketball rankings ahead of showdown with Suffern

We're down to the final week of the regular season in Section 1.

Teams are playing for league titles and playoff seeding. And there are some heavyweight matchups in the days ahead that will either give the contenders momentum or leave them with concern.

1. Stepinac (18-3) — Is there a chance the Crusaders will go undefeated against CHSAA opponents? Abso-freaking-lutely. Last week: 1

2. White Plains (17-1) — A chilly start at Greeley on Friday could've resulted in a moment of understandable frustration, but the body language never got negative. Last week: 3 

3. New Rochelle (16-2) — The Huguenots will know exactly where they stand heading into sectionals after going head-to-head with Mount Vernon and Mamaroneck. Last week: 4

4. Mount Vernon (11-5) — Getting a measure of redemption at New Rochelle would only add to the growing momentum.  Last week: 7

5. Iona Prep (16-5) — Keep an eye on the underclassmen. Ray Fernandez, Dillon Callahan and J.T. Lindi are having some moments. Last week: 5

6. Mamaroneck (15-2) — A first-ever league title is within reach, but the Tigers have to handle Scarsdale and New Rochelle to grab it. Last week: 2

7. Yorktown (15-2) — The defense is in postseason mode. The Huskers gave up just 38.4 points a game over the last five.  Last week: 8

8. Peekskill (17-1) — A league title was item No. 1 on the list of goals this group set this season. A win over Hen Hud on Tuesday would secure the crown. Last week: 9

10. North Rockland (13-5) — The Red Raiders are getting comfortable at the offensive end. The defense is locker in. Last week: NR

10. Mahopac (16-1) — Daniel Dedvukaj had a week, leading the Wolf Pac to a league title with a comeback win at Poughkeepsie. Last week: 10

On the bubble: Byram Hills (13-5); Pearl River (15-3); Rye (14-4); Scarsdale (5-12); Somers (12-5); Suffern (14-4).
