No one can doubt Terrelle Pryor’s dedication to winning

Two games in, the Cleveland Browns have already marked out the top two names on the quarterback depth chart. With the team scrambling to find anyone who can throw the ball, it has not gone unnoticed that they have a former All-American quarterback currently playing wide receiver.

Terrelle Pryor, who was a Heisman candidate at Ohio State, has transitioned well to wide receiver this year. Unfortunately, with one receiver breaking his hand in practice and another with an arrest warrant, Pryor is also desperately needed at this position. It’s all hands on deck for the Browns at this point, and when asked about it by Bleacher Report, Terrelle Pryor’s dedication to winning showed as he gave an absolutely PERFECT answer:

“I’ll be starting at receiver, but you know what? For this city, for the coaching staff that worked their butts off and my teammates, I’ll do anything to help us win, anything, cut my finger off, do whatever I’ve got to do. That’s ’cause I want to win. I really want to win. Last week was devastating. We got that taste, but we got a lot of positivity and positive things out of that last week, things we could do different. But I’m willing to die on this field. I want to win. I’m all about winning, competing, and for me that’s what this is about.”

It may seem a little extreme, but this is exactly the kind of dedication and positivity that the organization needs right now. Since the very first game, things have gone from bad to worse in a hurry. Fans have already begun to question the direction the team is going in, and this is exactly the kind of leadership that has been missing.

It is a pretty stark contrast from the uninspired signing of veteran Charlie Whitehurst. Whitehurst himself seemed completely apathetic about getting another shot in the league. He spoke to media Thursday, saying:

“I’ve never met anybody in this locker room.”

My response: That’s because this is one of the few benches in the league you haven’t warmed yet.

When asked about the current quarterback situation in Cleveland, the always articulate Whitehurst said:

“Yeah, man. Been a lot of quarterbacks.”

My response: Just go grab a clipboard and be happy.

I’m not saying I believe Pryor should be above Whitehurst on the QB depth chart, but I really hope the team takes the Pryor perspective rather than listening to Clipboard Jesus.
