No decision made on whether Kershaw will pitch again in 2012
A hip specialist confirmed that Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw was suffering from a hip impingement, but it still has not been determined whether Kershaw will pitch again this season, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.
Kershaw visited Dr. Bryan Kelly on Tuesday, and Kelly told the Dodgers that Kershaw could continue to pitch without risking further injury, as long as he could deal with the pain. However, the Dodgers have said Kershaw would not pitch if the pain continues.
Kershaw, who was scratched from Sunday's start, was scheduled to restart his throwing program Tuesday, although Kershaw's plans are unclear because he did not meet with reporters after Tuesday's game in Washington, D.C., which was rained out.
Manager Don Mattingly told reporters earlier Tuesday there was a chance Kershaw could pitch again this season.
Kershaw is 12-9 with a 2.70 ERA. He has not pitched since Sept. 11 and lost his last two decisions.
