CLEMSON — No. 16-seed Clemson softball continues NCAA Tournament regional play Saturday when it faces Auburn.
Both teams advanced to the winners' bracket with five-inning, run-rule victories Friday: Clemson beat UNC Greensboro 17-2, and Auburn defeated Cal State Fullerton 12-2.
Clemson and Auburn faced each other in last season's Clemson regional. The situation was the same as this year's, with both Tigers winning on Day 1. Clemson eked out a 1-0 win and eventually advanced to super regionals.
The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the regional final Sunday. The loser will play a second time Saturday, facing elimination against the winner of UNC Greensboro vs. Cal State Fullerton.
