No. 1 Allegany holds off Shalom; Fort Hill, Paw Paw roll; Northern wins; Union falls

Feb. 13—CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — No. 1 Allegany started well and held off a late surge from host Shalom to win 66-61 Monday — its sixth straight victory.

The Campers (16-3) led 23-16 after the opening quarter, but Shalom battled back to trail 36-34 at the half and 53-49 entering the fourth period.

Allegany escaped with a win despite missing big man Zach Michael for much of the game due to foul trouble.

Four Campers scored in double figures, led by Isaiah Fields with 19 points.

Michael added 13 and five rebounds; Dylan Shaffer tallied 12 points and seven boards; Dae Dae Smith racked up 11 points on two 3-pointers with four rebounds, four steals and three assists; Blake dished out eight assists; and Eli Imes chipped in eight points.

Shalom was paced by Ethan Hubers' game-high 24 points. He hit three of Shalom's eight 3s. Noah Lehman added 17 points.

Both teams left points at the foul line. Allegany was 6 for 15 and Shalom 9 of 17.

Allegany won the junior varsity game 31-22. Alex Spriggs led the way for Alco with seven points, and Cade Bauer, Landon Holliday and Owen Rice finished with six each.

The Campers are at Clear Spring on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

No. 3 Fort Hill 81 Clear Spring 44

CLEAR SPRING — Fort Hill bounced back from its setback to rival Allegany in a big way, drilling 15 3-pointers in a road rout of Clear Spring on Monday night.

The Sentinels (15-4) had leads of 19-8, 38-17 and 60-29 after the first three quarters.

Deshaun Brown paved the way with a game-high 25 points, hitting six 3-pointers along the way. Liam Hamilton (12 points) and Steven Spencer (11) also ended in double figures.

Spencer, Hamilton, Braylin Rhodes and Zylyn George made a pair of treys each.

The 15 3s was one off the school record Fort Hill set last year against Southern on Senior Night. The Sentinels also buried 15 against Mount Savage in 1998.

Dillon Albowicz was the lone double-digit performer for Clear Spring with 17 points.

Fort Hill's game at Southern scheduled for Tuesday was postponed to Feb. 22 due to inclement weather.

The Sentinels host Washington on Saturday at 1 p.m., who beat them in Charles Town, West Virginia, 57-55, back on Jan. 25.

Paw Paw 62 Timber Ridge 25

WINCHESTER, Va. — Paw Paw scored 42 points in the first half to cruise past host Timber Ridge Monday behind 34 combined points from Donovan Tanouye and Greyson Corbett.

The Pirates (13-7) led 18-7 after a quarter, 42-18 at the half and 54-22 following three periods. Tanouye was the high scorer with 18 points, adding four assists, and Corbett recorded 16 points and nine rebounds.

RJ Ryan added nine points, Taylor Carder garnered eight points and three assists, and Ayden Crabtree scored five with a game-high seven assists.

Paw Paw is at No. 2 East Hardy (14-1) on Friday at 6 p.m.

Northern 53 Shanksville 41SHANKSVILLE, Pa. — After two games against two of the area's top teams in Southern and East Hardy, Northern bounced back with a win over Shanksville on Monday.

The Huskies (10-11) led 16-8 after one quarter, 35-18 at halftime and 41-27 after three quarters.

Alex Knauff's 12 points and Robbie Rollman's 11 points led Northern.

Luke Ross added nine points and Devin McKenzie scored six.

Christian Musser led Shanksville with a game-high 20 points.

Braxton Faidley finished with 11 points for the Vikings.

The Huskies played at Frankfort in its regular season finale on Tuesday.

Turkeyfoot 63 Union 56

MOUNT STORM, W.Va. — A key injury and 38 points from Bryce Nicholson doomed Union to a loss to visiting Turkeyfoot on Monday night.

The Tigers (7-10) lost Joshua Burdock, one of their best defenders and a double-figure scorer in three of his past four games, to a shoulder injury in the first period, and Nicholson and Turkeyfoot took advantage.

After an 11-all tie after the first period, Turkeyfoot led 27-19 at the half and 42-27 entering the fourth quarter.

Braylon Ward paced Union with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Braxton Crites added 12 points, and Jacob Wolfe tallied 11 and four assists.

Union hosts Pendleton County on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
