Nine games planned for fourth annual Sun Gold Sports Sacred Hoops Classic on Jan. 7

Dec. 28—MITCHELL — The Sun Gold Sports Sacred Hoops Classic schedule is set for Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023 at the Corn Palace, with nine games on the slate.

The event, being held for the fourth time at the Corn Palace, includes five boys games and four girls contests. Among the highlights includes Class B boys No. 4 Lower Brule taking on Parkston at 1:30 p.m., followed by a matchup of two of the region's top Class B boys teams at 3 p.m. with Freeman Academy/Marion and Platte-Geddes, followed by Platte-Geddes girls against Custer.

At 6 p.m., the Winner boys, who qualified for the Class A state tournament a year ago, will face Custer, followed by a doubleheader of contests between West Central and Lakota Tech. The Trojan girls are ranked No. 4 in Class A girls and the Tatanka are receiving votes, with the two teams playing at 7:30 p.m., followed by the boys teams at 9 p.m.

Tickets, which are good for all day, are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Doors open at 8 a.m., and re-entry into the Corn Palace will be allowed.

10:30 a.m.: Boys — Mitchell Christian vs. Crow Creek

Noon: Girls — Lower Brule vs. Freeman Academy/Marion

1:30 p.m.: Boys — Lower Brule vs. Parkston

3 p.m.: Boys — Platte-Geddes vs. Freeman Academy/Marion

4:30 p.m.: Girls — Platte-Geddes vs. Custer

6 p.m.: Boys — Winner vs. Custer

7:30 p.m.: Girls — West Central vs. Lakota Tech

9 p.m.: Boys — West Central vs. Lakota Tech
