Niagara Falls native Roddy Gayle Jr. enters transfer portal after two years at Ohio State

Apr. 4—Former Niagara Falls and Lewiston-Porter star Roddy Gayle Jr. is looking for a new home.

After two seasons at Ohio State, Gayle has entered the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound sophomore had a breakout season, starting 35 of 36 games, averaging 13.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

Gayle scored in double figures 26 times, with four 20-point outings, including a career-high 32 points against West Virginia early in the season. Over two seasons, Gayle averaged 9.1 points over 23.7 minutes per game in 71 outings.

Ohio State head coach Chris Holtzman was fired in February, with assistant Jake Diebler taking over. The Buckeyes went 8-3 and reached the NIT quarterfinals before losing to Georgia, as Diebler was named permanent head coach March 17.
