The NHL Evening Skate for Oct. 30

Heading into this evening’s action, here are the day’s top NHL storylines:

Tonight’s matchup against the New York Islanders will be the Penguins’ first game in Pittsburgh since a gunman opened fire at the Tree of Life Synagogue and killed 11 innocent people. Why Elias Lindholm is the forward fix for the Flames

Lindholm’s versatility was, in some respects, kept under wraps by the Flames when they visited Toronto on Monday night. Paul Maurice wasn’t ready for the Finnish media

Winnipeg Jets coach Paul Maurice is seldom unable to deliver a smart, insightful and thought-provoking response to the questions lobbed at him by the media. Even the questionable ones. Jay Baruchel on the state of hockey in Canada, says NHL is ‘boring’

The comedy star has frequently stated his love of the Montreal Canadiens, and made two hockey films with the “Goon” franchise. But in his new memoir/sports book, “Born Into It,” the Montreal native digs even deeper, providing an in-depth history of the team, the sport and his life, and expressing strong feelings about the NHL. “I take issue with where it’s at, with what they’ve done to the game.” [More]
