NH colleges: Franklin Pierce men's soccer team wins, returns to NCAA Div. II final

Dec. 7—The Franklin Pierce men's soccer team rallied from a deficit to beat Lewis University 3-2 on Thursday in an NCAA Division II men's soccer tournament semifinal in Matthews, North Carolina.

The win sent the Ravens, the top-ranked team in the country and the No. 1 seed in the tournament, back to the final to defend their national title. The championship match is set for Saturday at 4 p.m. in Matthews.

Younes Addar khananoussi's second goal of the game, at 62:31, erased a 2-1 deficit. And about 14 minutes later, Antonio Lampreia lima broke the tie and provided the winning margin.

FPU, which improved to 20-0-2 overall, received one save from goalkeeper Karl Vernet.

Lewis goalie Sebastian Doppelhofer made nine saves.

UNH men's hockey team hosts RPI on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The UNH men's hockey team will play its final home game of 2023 on Saturday afternoon against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of the ECAC. Game time is 4 p.m.

The Wildcats dropped to 7-4-1 overall after their latest contest, a 5-2 Hockey East loss at Maine last Friday. Their next games, also nonconference affairs, come on Dec. 29-30 at Army and Sacred Heart.

UNH was ranked No. 16 in this week's national poll conducted by USCHO.com.

RPI is 2-9-1 overall and is winless in its last five games.

Bosse hits milestone in Plymouth State's loss to Keene State

Manchester's Kyler Bosse scored 10 points, including the 1,000th of his varsity career, in Plymouth State's 83-58 loss to visiting Keene State in men's basketball on Wednesday night. Bosse, a senior, is the 35th PSU player to reach the milestone.

The Owls' Octavio Brito scored 30 points to lead all scorers. KSC, ranked No. 5 in latest Division III national poll, improved to 8-1 overall, 2-0 in the Little East Conference.

PSU dropped to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the LEC.

Dartmouth tops UNH in men's basketball

In the first meeting of New Hampshire's two Division I men's basketball teams since 2019, Jayden Williams poured in a career-high 28 points to lead Dartmouth past UNH 76-64 on Wednesday night at Leede Arena in Hanover.

The Big Green (2-5 overall), who led by as many as 23 points in the second half, host Marist on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Wildcats (4-6) play next on Monday at home against Stonehill.
