NFL power rankings Week 7: New York Giants, New York Jets make statements with big wins

The New York Giants and the New York Jets continue to rise in our latest NFL power rankings after big victories in Week 6 of the NFL season.

The Giants improved to 5-1 on the season after a come-from-behind 24-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens.

The Jets moved to 4-2 after throttling the Green Bay Packers, 27-10.

Both teams are off to great starts, especially when you consider how they finished last season.

The Giants went just 4-13 a year ago, so they have already surpassed last season's win total.

The Jets were also 4-13 in 2021, so they have already matched their win total last season six weeks into the season.

Check out how we rank the Giants, Jets and all 32 teams in the NFL heading into Week 7 of the 2022-23 season, from lowest to highest. Previous ranking in parenthesis.

NFL Week 7 odds:

32. Carolina Panthers (32)

Lost to Los Angeles Rams, 24-10, to fall to 1-5. The Panthers played the Los Angeles Rams tough for much of the game, but dropped their third straight game. It could be a very long season in Carolina.

31. Detroit Lions (29)

Didn't play in Week 6. Enter Week 7 with a 1-4 record. This team has given up an NFL-high 170 points, and didn't even play in Week 6.

30. Houston Texans (28)

Didn't play in Week 6. Enter Week 7 with a 1-3-1 record, but are coming off a 13-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5.

29. Las Vegas Raiders (26)

Didn't play in Week 6. Enter Week 7 with a 1-4 record. Yes, they didn't play this week. We're dropping them anyway, however, because they are one of just four teams with fewer than two wins this season.

NFL Week 7 picks, predictions:

Saquon Barkley (26) and the New York Giants are now 5-1 on the season after beating the Baltimore Ravens in NFL Week 6.
Saquon Barkley (26) and the New York Giants are now 5-1 on the season after beating the Baltimore Ravens in NFL Week 6.

28. Chicago Bears (24)

Lost to Washington Commanders, 12-7, to fall to 2-4. Justin Fields has some potential, but the Bears don't give him much time to throw.

27. Washington Commanders (31)

Beat Chicago Bears, 12-7, to improve to 2-4. It wasn't pretty, but the Commanders got a win over the Bears and a boost in our power rankings.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars (18)

Lost to Indianapolis Colts, 34-27, to fall to 2-4. Three straight losses after an impressive start have the Jaguars reeling and in desperate need of a win. They host the Giants in Week 7.

NFL Week 6 winners, losers: Bills, Chiefs are top AFC contenders; Bucs struggle in red zone

25. Pittsburgh Steelers (30)

Beat Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 20-18, to improve to 2-4. We have to give the Steelers some credit. That win over the Buccaneers was impressive on Sunday.

24. Denver Broncos (23)

Lost to Los Angeles Chargers, 19-16, to fall to 2-4. Only one team has fewer points than the Broncos this season, the Houston Texans, and they have played one fewer game.

23. Arizona Cardinals (21)

Lost to Seattle Seahawks, 19-9, to fall to 2-4. The Cardinals have now lost two straight games and we're not so sure DeAndre Hopkins' return is going to solve the team's woes on offense.

Report Card: Kingsbury gets 'F' after Cards' loss to Seahawks

22. New Orleans Saints (17)

Lost to Cincinnati Bengals, 30-26, to fall to 2-4. The Saints are just 1-3 at home this season. They play the Cardinals on the road on Thursday Night Football in Week 7.

21. Cleveland Browns (20)

Lost to New England Patriots, 38-15, to fall to 2-4. We did not see that blowout coming against the Patriots. Cleveland has now dropped three straight games.

20. Seattle Seahawks (27)

Beat Arizona Cardinals, 19-9, to improve to 3-3. Pete Carroll coached laps around the Arizona Cardinals' Kliff Kingsbury in the Seahawks' win in Week 6.

19. Atlanta Falcons (25)

Beat San Francisco 49ers, 28-14, to improve to 3-3. The Falcons are 3-3 and tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for first in the NFC South. Hard to believe, but true.

18. Miami Dolphins (15)

Lost to Minnesota Vikings, 24-16, to fall to 3-3. The Dolphins have had quarterback injuries, but their problems appear to run deeper than at that position during their 3-game skid.

17. Green Bay Packers (11)

Lost to New York Jets, 27-10, to fall to 3-3. We thought the Packers were going to be very good this season. It's looking like we thought wrong after that abysmal performance in Week 6.

Opinion: Matt LaFleur's offense and Green Bay Packers are now in crisis mode

16. New England Patriots (22)

Beat Cleveland Browns, 38-15, to improve to 3-3. The defense continues to impress in New England, as does quarterback Bailey Zappe. Still, the Patriots are tied for last in the AFC East with the Miami Dolphins.

15. Indianapolis Colts (19)

Beat Jacksonville Jaguars, 34-27, to improve to 3-2-1. Two straight wins has the Colts above .500 and right behind the Tennessee Titans in the AFC South.

14. Baltimore Ravens (10)

Lost to New York Giants, 24-20, to fall to 3-3. This team feels like it is underachieving to us, but is still tied for the AFC North lead.

13. San Francisco 49ers (8)

Lost to Atlanta Falcons, 28-14, to fall to 3-3. That was an ugly performance in Atlanta. Still, the 49ers' defense has only allowed 89 points, top in the NFC.

12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7)

Lost to Pittsburgh Steelers, 20-18. to fall to 3-3. Something is not right in Tampa Bay.- Perhaps Tom Brady not being entirely committed to the team is part of it.

11. Los Angeles Rams (13)

Beat Carolina Panthers, 24-10, to improve to 3-3. The defending champions are in a three-way tie for first in the NFC West.

10. Cincinnati Bengals (12)

Beat New Orleans Saints, 30-26, to improve to 3-3. It wasn't pretty, but Joe Burrow and company are now tied for the AFC North division lead.

9. Tennessee Titans (15)

Did not play in Week 6. Enter Week 7 with a 3-2 record. The Titans didn't play, but we're elevating them based on other teams not impressing. This team leads the AFC South.

8. New York Jets (14)

Beat Green Bay Packers, 27-10, to improve to 4-2. Too high for the Jets? Maybe. But we've been very impressed with the team's poise.

How to watch: NFL Week 7 schedule, television information

The New York Jets are 4-2 on the season after beating the Green Bay Packers in NFL Week 6.

7. Los Angeles Chargers (9)

Beat Denver Broncos, 19-16, to improve to 4-2. The Chargers tied the Chiefs for the division lead with the win.

6. Dallas Cowboys (5)

Lost to Philadelphia Eagles, 26-17, to fall to 4-2. Cooper Rush came back to earth against the Eagles' defense. Is it Dak Prescott time again?

5. Kansas City Chiefs (3)

Lost to Buffalo Bills, 24-20, to fall to 4-2. The Chiefs were right there with the Bills in what could have been an AFC title game preview.

4. New York Giants (6)

Beat Baltimore Ravens, 24-20, to improve to 5-1. This team gets no respect. Is No. 4 in our power rankings enough respect for now?

NFL Week 7 odds:Point spread, moneyline, over/under for each Week 7 NFL game

3. Minnesota Vikings (4)

Beat Miami Dolphins, 24-16, to improve to 5-1. The Vikings' lone loss came against the Eagles. This team looks legit.

2. Buffalo Bills (2)

Beat Kansas City Chiefs, 24-20, to improve to 5-1. The Bills got revenge on the Chiefs, but will they face them again in the playoffs?

1. Philadelphia Eagles (1)

Beat Dallas Cowboys, 26-17, to improve to 6-0.  Jalen Hurts' rise has him as an MVP frontrunner for the Eagles.
