NFL draft footprint runs from Campus Martius down Woodward to Hart Plaza
The Detroit City Council will hear a significant update Tuesday on plans for the NFL draft in downtown Detroit on April 25-27.
In advance of the meeting, the Free Press obtained images of the event footprint and many other details to be presented to the council. The main event footprint stretches through Campus Martius Park and Cadillac Square, and runs south down Woodward Avenue through Hart Plaza.
The map of downtown shows that the Draft Experience, which will be a free interactive football theme park, will be held at Hart Plaza. A Draft theater will be located at Randolph and Monroe streets across from the Greektown parking garage.
Times
Gates will open at noon on April 25-26, the days of rounds one and two of the draft, and at 9 a.m. on April 27. The Draft Theater will host visitors from 8-11 p.m. on April 25, 7-11 p.m. on the 26th, and noon-7 p.m. on Saturday the 27th.
Elsewhere around downtown
Officials are proposing events at Beacon Park, Capitol Park, Grand Circus Park, Harmonie Park and along Woodward Avenue. Each area can hold a capacity between 500 to 20,000.
The Corner Ballpark in Corktown, the old Tiger Stadium site, is to host a Prospect Clinic and community event on Wednesday for invited prospects and media. It will include a youth hub, Eastern Market food trucks and a watch party from 8-10 p.m. on Thursday and 7-10 p.m. on Friday.
