Vikings claim OT Webb off waivers
The Minnesota Vikings claimed former Chicago Bears offensive tackle J'Marcus Webb off waivers Sunday.
Webb started 44 games over his first three seasons in the NFL since the Bears drafted him in the seventh round in 2010.
After starting at right tackle the last 12 games of the 2010 season, he was moved to left tackle the next year and made 32 straight starts protecting quarterback Jay Cutler's blindside.
However, Webb had his ups and downs at left tackle, especially in 2012. One incident involved Cutler bumping into him while walking off the field after he missed a blocking assignment.
The Bears moved Webb back to the right side this summer after they signed Jermon Bushrod to a five-year deal. Webb eventually fell to the second team in favor of rookie fifth-round draft choice Jordan Mills.
Webb was slated to make $630,000 after agreeing to have his pay cut when he lost his starting job.
He will likely serve as a backup for starting tackles Matt Kalil and Phil Loadholt.
The Vikings also terminated the contract of vested veteran Troy Kropog, an offensive lineman.
