UFC 92 medical suspensions

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Monday released medical suspensions arising from Saturday’s UFC 92 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Most injured fighters received two months for their suspensions, with many receiving the stipulation they must see a specialist before being cleared to fight again.

Forrest Griffin is suspended until Feb. 12 for a left hand injury sustained in his fight with Rashad Evans. Griffin must have the hand x-rayed and cleared by an orthopedic doctor or he will not be allowed to fight until June 27, 2009.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria is suspended until Feb. 27 following his TKO loss to Frank Mir.

Mike Massenzio is suspended until Jan. 28 following his TKO loss to C.B. Dollaway

Wanderlei Silva is suspended until Feb. 27 following his knockout loss to Quinton Jackson.

Mostapha Al Turk sustained a broken nose in his ground and pound loss to Cheick Kongo, and must have it cleared by an ear, nose, and throat specialist before being cleared to fight. In addition, he must avoid contact until Feb. 12 for the lacerations over his left eye and on the top of his head. His minimum suspension from competition runs until Feb. 27, 2009, and unless he sees the specialist, will be out until June 27.

Mike Wessel is suspended until Feb. 12 for his TKO loss to C.B. Dollaway.

Matt Hamill is suspended until Feb. 12 and is forbidden from contact until Jan. 28 for a cut under his left eye that he sustained in his victory over Reese Andy.

Andy is required to have a CT Scan of his face to rule out an orbital fracture. His minimum suspension runs until Feb. 27, and is forbidden from contact until Feb. 12.

Brad Blackburn is required to gain clearance from a neurologist for tingling and numbness in his left arm following his decision win over Ryo Chonan. He also needs to be cleared by an ear, nose, and throat doctor for a nasal fracture. His minimum suspension runs until Feb. 12, with no contact until Jan. 28.

Dan Evensen must be cleared by an orthopedist for a left knee injury sustained in his fight with Pat Barry. His minimum suspension runs until Jan. 28, with no contact until Jan. 19.

For his part, Barry is barred from contact until Jan. 19 for an undisclosed injury to his right elbow.
