UFC 154 Preliminary TV Ratings Stay Consistent
The TV ratings for the UFC 154 Preliminary broadcast on FX on Saturday night pulled in 980,000 viewers, according to MMAWeekly.com’s industry sources.
That is well below the average of 1.2 million per event over the course of 12 preliminary bout broadcasts since they moved to FX in January, but well in line with the past several broadcasts.
The one preliminary bout broadcast that stood out in recent months is for UFC 148, which pulled in a strong 1.8 million viewers in support of the main card featuring the Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen rematch.
UFC 154 featured the return of UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre after more than a year and a half out of action. He unified his belt with that of interim titleholder Carlos Condit, re-establishing himself as one of the top fighters on the planet.
Patrick Cote and Alessio Sakara headlined the UFC 154 preliminary broadcast on FX in a fight that ended in a controversial disqualification. Sakara appeared to be winning the fight, but dropped several hammerfists to the back of Cote’s head before the fight was stopped. It appeared that the referee was going to award the stoppage to Sakara, but after much discussion, he was disqualified and Cote was awarded the victory.
