Troubled Greg Hardy spent two days visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars

Greg Hardy might be back in the NFL soon.

As Pro Football Talk and NFL Network reported, Hardy has spent the past two days visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars and working out for them too. The latter is significant; it shows real interest from the team. When Richie Incognito appeared to be unofficially black-balled by NFL teams prior to signing with the Buffalo Bills before last season, he took a few visits but never appeared to make it past the getting-to-know-you stage with any of them.

Then there’s this nugget from MMQB’s Albert Breer:

This is not a hasty decision. You can read this tweet and assume that the Jaguars might have gone in a different direction and put Hardy to the side had they found pass-rush help via the draft, free agency or by trade. But that’s the one area they did not address this offseason. One true rusher they added — seventh-rounder Jonathan Woodard — is already done for the season with an Achilles injury. Throw in the fact that 2015 first-round defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. missed his entire rookie season with an injury, and a need emerges even with a few intriguing rush candidates already added.

Why would the Jaguars, who could be building something special, be interested in such a toxic player.?

Is Hardy not a major risk to taint the locker room the way he reportedly did in Dallas? After all, the Cowboys knew full well about Hardy’s legal problems and the domestic violence claims made against him when they signed him. It wasn’t until he came in and caused problems in the locker room and displayed a wholly unapologetic attitude toward the incident that the Cowboys soured on the idea of re-signing him.

On the surface it’s understandable why the Jaguars would want a 27-year-old rusher with great size and production (33 sacks in his past 44 games, even with a so-so 2015 season), but given their fragile state right now it makes little sense. Throw in the fact that Jaguars linebacker Dan Skuta recently was arrested for battery on a woman (chargers were later dropped) and it might be an awfully bad look for the team to sign Hardy.

Florida Times-Union’s Ryan O’Halloran, who has a strong pulse on the team’s locker room, indicates that a signing is not imminent.

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t interest, based on what Breer reported.

Will the Jaguars — who have been long irrelevant but might be on the verge of being good again — sell their souls a bit to make a move on Hardy?
