Top A-Sun freshman leaves Lipscomb for junior college

Lipscomb's loss is Northwest Florida State's gain.

Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year, Stephen Hurt, has decided to leave Lipscomb for the junior college Raiders. Hurt, who averaged 11.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this past season, asked for his release after Lipscomb coach Scott Sanderson resigned in April.

Hurt, a 6-foot-10 forward, will be allowed to play immediately and is projected as one of the top junior-college prospects for the Class of 2014, according to CBSSports.com.

"His improvement since high school is off the charts," said Northwest Florida State coach Steve Forbes said. "He'll be heavily recruited at the high-major level."

Lipscomb, located in Nashville, Tenn., went 12-18 this past season.
