The Chase Faces Another Fix Scandal After Chaser Is Accused Of ‘Deliberately Failing’

ITV’s popular game show, The Chase, is facing another fix scandal as some viewers are accusing one of the chasers of ‘deliberately failing’ during a celebrity special.

Jennifer Metcalfe, Michael Parr and Bill Turnbull were playing the game on Sunday (May 15), and managed to beat chaser Shaun Wallace, who’s known as the ‘Dark Destroyer’.

The celebrities won £18,000 for their chosen charities, including Bowel Cancer UK and Sheffield Children’s Hospital, but, as The Mirror notes, some fans have accused Shaun of deliberately answering questions wrong to allow the famous contestants to win.

Taking to Twitter to share their opinions, some branded the show a ‘fix’, while others said the questions seemed easier than the questions on non-celebrity editions.

One user, for example, wrote: “I feel like the chaser let them win… #TheChase”, while another said: “The Chase is def fixed as seemed very obvious the chaser was giving the wrong answers on purpose. [sic]”

One also tweeted: “Watching #thechase celebrity special and I can’t help wonder if they go easy in these things because it’s for charity? #thoughts [sic]”.

Last month, viewers accused the show of giving chaser Mark Lambett an advantage with an extra second of time when a clock appeared to freeze. Producers put this down to an editing error.
