The Washington Wizards have agreed to sign free-agent center Ryan Hollins, a league source told Yahoo Sports.
Hollins traveled Sunday evening to join the Wizards. Hollins, a 7-footer, was the final cut from the Memphis Grizzlies' training camp in October. In seven preseason games, Hollins made a strong roster case and averaged 5.4 points, three rebounds and 83.3 percent field-goal shooting.
The Grizzlies maintained interest in potentially signing Hollins this season before his agreement to join the Wizards, sources said.
Washington is 6-8 entering Tuesday's road game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Hollins brings activity and depth to a frontcourt that has both center Nene and forward Drew Gooden out with calf injuries.
Hollins is a nine-year NBA veteran out of UCLA, averaging 3.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game over his career.
The Wizards are waiving veteran small forward Martell Webster to create a roster spot for Hollins.
