Sergio Pettis Signs UFC Deal, Will Debut Against Vaughan Lee at UFC 167

Sergio Pettis is now, officially, a UFC fighter.

The younger brother of UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, Sergio signed a contract with the UFC on Tuesday afternoon, and already has his first opponent.

Pettis will make his promotional debut on Nov. 16 at UFC 167, where he will square off with English bantamweight Vaughan Lee, according to UFC officials.

Pettis is 9-0 as a professional, holding both the RFA flyweight championship and the NAFC bantamweight championship. He won the NAFC belt this past weekend with a first-round submission victory over James Porter in Pettis’ hometown of Milwaukee.

That was all the UFC needed to pull the trigger and work a deal to bring the 20-year-old Pettis to the Octagon.

Lee (13-9-1) is currently 2-3 in the Octagon. Coming off of a loss to Raphael Assuncao at UFC on Fuel TV 10, he is sorely in need of a victory. A loss to the incoming Pettis would put Lee’s UFC tenure at grave risk.
