Seahawks put Rice in IR

The Seattle Seahawks placed wide receiver Sidney Rice on injured reserve and signed wide receiver Ricardo Lockette from the practice squad to the active roster, the team announced Wednesday.

The Seahawks also added wide receiver Josh Lenz to the practice squad.

Rice will miss the remainder of the season after he suffered a torn ACL in Monday night's 14-9 win over the St. Louis Rams. He did not have a reception in the game.

The season ends for Rice with 15 catches for 231 yards and three touchdowns.

His absence leaves a void at receiver that the Seahawks hope Percy Harvin soon will fill. Harvin is working his way back from preseason hip surgery and remains day to day, according to coach Pete Carroll.

The Seahawks (7-1) face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-7) on Sunday.

Injuries are nothing new for Rice during his three seasons with the Seahawks. In 2011, he was limited to nine games because of a shoulder problem and a concussion.

Last season, he played in all 16 regular-season games and caught 50 passes for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.
