Packers add running back Kahlil Bell after tryout

The Green Bay Packers are signing former Chicago Bears running back Kahlil Bell to a one-year contract.

The Packers needed depth with rookie Johnathan Franklin placed on injured reserve last week with a neck injury and concussion.

Bell tried out Monday along with Brandon Jackson and Shawn Southward, according to a league source.

Two years ago, Bell rushed for 121 yards on 23 carries against the Packers while playing for the Bears, catching four passes for 38 yards.

Bell last played for the New York Jets.
