NHL Three Stars: Dubnyk gets win No. 30; Bowness sets coaching record

No. 1 Star: Devan Dubnyk, Minnesota Wild

Congrats to Dubnyk who earned his 30th win of the season as the Wild beat the Lightning in the shootout. He made 26 saves through regulation and overtime and did not allow a goal during the skills competition.

No. 2 Star: Artemi Panarin, Chicago Blackhawks

Panarin had one goal and two assists in the Blackhawks 5-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets. Check out this beauty of a pass from Panarin to Kane to get the Blackhawks on the board.

No. 3 Star: Andrei Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Lightning

The backup netminder in Tampa got his first start in eight days and was sharp even though he didn’t pick up the ‘W.’ The Wild peppered him with 38 shots on goal through regulation and overtime and only allowed 1 goal. He made saves on Jason Pominville and Zach Parise in the shootout, but would fall to Mikko Koivu.

Honorable Mention: Artem Anisimov, Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith picked up two points each against Winnipeg. Nicklas Hjalmarsson was on the ice for all scoring plays by Chicago. Hjalmarsson and Brent Seabrook were credited with six blocked shots each. Corey Crawford owes Brent Seabrook dinner for his help in net:

… Tampa assistant Rick Bowness passed Scotty Bowman for most games as a head and assistant coach at 2,165 games Nino Niederreiter and Brayden Point were the only goal scorers in a very testy game between Tampa and Minnesota. Brian Boyle was credited with a team-high 7 (!!) shots on goal; in addition to his 7 penalty minutes. Mikael Granlund led the Wild with 7 shots of his own. Dishonorable Mention: If you put any stock into plus/minus, Dustin Byfuglien was a minus-5 against Chicago … Tyler Johnson was out of the lineup for Tampa with an undisclosed injury. Minnesota thumped Winnipeg on the faceoff dot 63% to 37%, respectively.
