The sci-fi adventure Interstellar follows a group of explorers who take advantage of a newly discovered wormhole to overcome the limitations of human space travel.

Matthew McConaughey plays Cooper, the leader of these daring explorers. After passing through the wormhole, the team experiences time travel and alternate dimensions. Theoretical physicist Kip Thorne helped develop the fascinating storyline. The screenplay was written by brothers Jonathan and Christopher Nolan.

The cast includes a plethora of big names, including Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables), Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Casey Affleck (Ain't Them Bodies Saints), Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3) and newcomer MacKenzie Foy (The Twilight Saga, parts 1 and 2). Along with all the hot young talent, the movie also features acclaimed veteran actors Michael Caine, Ellen Burstyn and John Lithgow.

Besides co-writing the screenplay, Christopher Nolan directed the film. Known for his forays into sci-fi and fantasy, the filmmaker counts among his most recent work writing and directing 2012's The Dark Knight Rises. It seems every detail of this production is first class, even the musical score, by Hans Zimmer, who has worked on many of Nolan's hits, including The Dark Knight Rises.

The trailer focuses on the pioneering spirit of those who explore new frontiers, particularly outer space. The tagline reinforces this theme: "Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here." Watch the trailer below.

Interstellar will premiere in 2D and IMAX theaters Nov. 7.
