The Jaguars two main running backs T.J. Yeldon and Chris Ivory combined for 904 rushing yards and four touchdowns last season. Their newest running back Leonard Fournette rushed for 843 yards and eight touchdowns last season at LSU, along with rushing over 1,000 yards and ten touchdowns in 2014 and almost 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2015. The Jags upgraded their rushing game, but the big question is whether or not Chris Ivory will be playing for the Jags this year.

It is expected that Leonard Fournette will be the starter. T.J. Yeldon could take the backup role, so where does this leave Chris Ivory? There are people that would say he won’t make the roster this year, some say that he will stay for depth. Only he can control what his future is whether it’s staying in Jacksonville or finding another team.

What will he have to do to stay?

Ivory will need to compete everyday and on every play. Whether it’s a run or pass play, film session or in the weight room. He will need to show that is worthy of staying on the roster. He is at a disadvantage because he has more miles on his feet than Yeldon and Fournette in this league.

He could compete for the backup role behind Fournette. Ivory can outwork Yeldon in practice and show the coaches that age is just a number, then he could be back this season. With drafting Fournette, the Jaguars now have two young running backs that can make an impact for the future. With Ivory, he is 29 years old and he could be seeing the end of his journey with the Jags.
