Hartline hails 'amazing' Tannehill improvement

The Miami Dolphins have been proactive this offseason in the team's effort to make a playoff push, splashing heavily in the free agent pool.

Tannehill looks to guide the Dolphins back to the postseason for the first time since 2008.

The addition of pass-catching options Mike Wallace, Brandon Gibson and tight end Dustin Keller, along with impact linebacker Dannell Ellerbe and offensive tackle Tyson Clabo offers a formidable infusion of talent to the cause. Still, as impressive an offseason as general manager Jeff Ireland and company have orchestrated, the team will only go as far as second-year quarterback Ryan Tannehill takes them.

According to 2012 breakout receiver Brian Hartline, last year’s No. 8 overall selection has shown exponential improvement thus far.

“He’s really taken a huge step,” Hartline said in a conference call with team season ticket holders. “He’s making every throw, his deep ball looks awesome, intermediate ball is great, he has great touch… his improvement has been amazing.”

Hartline’s praise comes on the heels of offensive coordinator Mike Sherman’s promise that Tannehill “will be the most improved quarterback in the NFL from year one to year two.”

Additionally, via the Miami Herald, receiver Brian Tyms has hailed the Texas A&M alum’s developing leadership skills.

While pre-camp praise should always be taken with a sizable grain of salt until validated by game action, Tannehill is clearly doing his part to win over teammates and coaches
