Florida LB Powell has torn ACL

Florida linebacker Ronald Powell suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, coach Will Muschamp announced Monday.

Powell was injured in Saturday's spring game and is expected to miss at least six months recovering, meaning his earliest return date would be near midseason.

The junior was diagnosed with a sprained knee but further tests revealed the more serious injury.

Powell had nine tackles for loss last season, including six sacks, and was considered the Gators' top pass-rush specialist.
