Fleck named Western Michigan head coach

Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant coach P.J. Fleck has been named Western Michigan's new head football coach, the school announced on Monday.

Fleck, who turned 32 on Nov. 29, becomes the youngest head coach in major college football. He will be formally introduced at a press conference on Tuesday.

Fleck replaces Bill Cubit, who was fired after eight seasons. The Broncos went 4-8 in 2012.

On Feb. 2, 2012, Fleck was named Northern Illinois' offensive coordinator, but one day later he left to become the wide receivers coach for the Buccaneers under Greg Schiano. Fleck had been an assistant under Schiano at Rutgers as well.

Fleck played in one NFL game for the 49ers in 2004.
