Cardinals release former first-round wide receiver Michael Floyd following DUI arrest
On Wednesday, the Arizona Cardinals released wide receiver Michael Floyd following his arrest for suspicion of DUI, which happened early Monday morning following the team’s return from a road game against the Miami Dolphins.

Floyd was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, along with obstructing a roadway and failure to obey an officer. He was found passed out behind the wheel of his still-running vehicle at 2:48 a.m. local time, which was just hours after the team flight returned home.

When asked about Floyd, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians took a rare pass on commenting.

The former first-round pick has had a poor season, with 33 catches for 446 yards and four touchdowns in 13 games, picking a bad time to do so as he was preparing to become a free agent in the offseason. The Cardinals sped up that process by releasing him, and his once-promising future is in serious doubt.
Floyd also had an alcohol-related arrest in March 2011 at Notre Dame with a DUI that led to a suspension from the team. The Cardinals, however, used the 13th pick in the draft on him the following year. Other than a few strong stretches along the way Floyd has been a disappointment.
