Should Broncos move on from Rick Dennison?
The Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50 with a great defense created by Wade Phillips and executed by himself and head coach Gary Kubiak. This was despite the Broncos being a record-setting offense under Peyton Manning and old offensive coordinator Adam Gase in 2013 and 2014.

But of course, their offense barely did enough to win the championship last year. Their offense did little-to-nothing in 2016 and it cost them a playoff spot. Should this mean finding a replacement for Rick Dennison?
Before we look at Dennison, we need to keep in mind that moving on from Adam Gase was a questionable call. The Broncos gutted the coaching staff after a one-and-done playoff appearance in 2014.
We know the Broncos set records in 2013 with Gase. In 2014, they had the fourth-most yards and averaged 30.1 points per game, the second most in the NFL that season.
Last season, their offense ranked 16th in the NFL and averaged 22.2 points per game. Keep in mind a lot of their points were set up by the defense forcing so many turnovers as well.
And look at Gase as head coach in Miami: Ryan Tannehill/Matt Moore have carried an offensive juggernaut, Jay Ajayi is a breakout star at running back and the Dolphins are in the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
With all due respect to Dennison, it’s hard to ignore Gase’s success elsewhere and the Broncos decline in offense under his tenure. The offensive line, running game and quarterback play have all been lackluster at best during his time here.
The receivers – Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas, appear to be shells of their former selves. At least right now.
Denver has to make changes all over the offense, but it doesn’t make sense to do that under Dennison. Rather, they should look to do that with a new offensive coordinator with a new set of players in 2017.
