Bantamweight Bout Bewteen Takeya Mizugaki and Nam Phan Booked for UFC Fight Night 33

A bantamweight bout between Takeya Mizugaki and Nam Phan has been added to the UFC Fight Night 33 card.

UFC officials announced the new bout on Friday.

UFC Fight Night 33 is headlined by a five-round heavyweight bout between Mark Hunt and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. It is slated for Dec. 7 in Brisbane, Australia. It airs on Dec. 6 in the United States due to the time difference.

Mizugaki (18-7-2) has fought under the Zuffa banner for more than four years, beginning with the WEC in 2009. His tenure has been a roller coaster ride the majority of that time, but Japanese fighter is currently on a three-fight winning streak.

Mizugaki most recently won a split decision victory over Erik Perez, disrupting the Brazilian’s string of eight consecutive victories.

Pham (18-11), however, finds his roster spot in jeopardy heading into this fight. He has alternated between wins and losses in his last four trips to the Octagon, where he holds a 2-4 record since emerging from season 12 of The Ultimate Fighter.

Pham most recently dropped unanimous decision to Dennis Siver at UFC on Fox 5 in last December.
