Nets’ Kevin Durant says pro sports can survive without ‘spoiled, entitled, clickbait media’

Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant had some choice words for media members that behave with entitlement and who only provide clickbait material. His words appeared to be in defense of Tampa Bay Buccaneers running Giovani Bernard.

In the Buccaneers’ 34-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Bernard appeared to be on a different page from the rest of his teammates on one particular play. With a little over 13 minutes left in the third quarter, Bernard received a direct snap unexpectedly and as a result of the surprise, he fumbled. He was able to recover the fumble, but since it was fourth down, the Bengals got the ball.

It looks like the play was supposed to be a fake punt and everyone got that message except for Bernard. After the game, Bernard was approached by reporters in the locker room as he was on his way out to see his family. There is video by Jenna Laine of ESPN showing the interaction between the reporters (including her) and Bernard.

In the end, it looks like Durant was speaking his mind on media members who insist that pro athletes talk to them no matter the situation. Many pundits have criticized Laine and the other reporters in the locker room for being disrespectful and aggressive towards to Bernard.

The Nets’ next game is Wednesday against the Golden State Warriors.
