Nets’ Ben Simmons still ‘has boxes to tick’ before playing for Australia

Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons is currently using his time this summer to rehab from the nerve impingement in his back that ended his 2022-23 season prematurely. While multiple reports have detailed that Simmons’ recovery from the injury is going well, per NetsDaily, the former Philadelphia 76er still has a ways to go before he is able to help his native Australia win the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Simmons, 26, played just 42 games in the 2022-23 campaign due to a series of injuries related to his knees and back. What made the season particularly disappointing for him was that when he was available, his numbers were down significantly across the board from the standard that he established earlier in his career.

Simmons has been posting on his Instagram more recently as it seems that he is able to work out more and feel better about where he’s at physically. This news seems understandable given the fact that Simmons has been dealing with back issues since the 2021-22 season. Regardless of whether Simmons is able to participate in international play, he should be ready to go when Brooklyn has training camp.
