Nets’ Ben Simmons is getting more people to believe in his comeback

Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons has had a long road back from the injuries that have essentially derailed his career for the past two-plus seasons, but it seems that he’s finally coming out on the other side of those setbacks. Now, it seems that more people by the day are believing that Simmons is finally healthy and ready to play high-level basketball again.

In a recent episode of the “How ‘Bout Them Celtics” podcast, hosts Jack Simone of Bulls Wire and Sam LaFrance were joined by Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports to talk about many topics, including if Fischer believes that Simmons is “back” after Monday’s preseason opener against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Against the Lakers, Simmons had 10 points and three assists in 14 minutes of action. More to the point, it was the way that Simmons was getting up and down the floor on Monday that seemed to make everyone a believer in Simmons’ health again.

Here’s some of what Fischer had to say about Simmons:

“I watched a little bit of that game against the Lakers from Monday night [and] he (Simmons) certainly physically looked back. As someone who’s kind of followed him throughout his career, because I used to pay quite a bit of attention to the Sixers rebuild… watching him last season… he wasn’t like this fluid, runaway athlete that we saw in Philadelphia when he got out into transition. At least against the Lakers in Las Vegas on Monday night, he looked fluid and powerful and active out there.”
