NBA Twitter reacts to Kyrie Irving going off in close loss to the Warriors

The Golden State Warriors completed a season sweep of the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, but Kyrie Irving kept the Nets in the game until the very end.

The Nets were dealt a blow earlier on Saturday as James Harden was ruled out with a right hand strain. Nets coach Steve Nash said before the game that Harden had been dealing with the issue for some time, but his condition worsened on Saturday.

Without Harden or Durant, the pressure was on Irving and Patty Mills to carry the Nets offensively – and they both delivered. Irving scored 32 points in 39 minutes and finished the game with seven rebounds and seven assists, while Mills hit six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points.

The Nets successfully limited both Steph Curry and Klay Thompson – who shot a combined 10-of-32 from the field and 5-of-18 from long range – but Thompson drilled a clutch three with 12.5 seconds remaining to give Golden State a four-point edge. Irving responded immediately with a three on the other end, but the Warriors hit their free throws and held on for a 110-106 win.
