Navarro County 4-H Shotgun Club places strong in competition

Feb. 21—The Navarro County 4-H Shotgun Club has had a busy two weeks competing at both the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Young Guns and the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo Junior Shoot Out.

At Houston, Gracie Teetz shot excellent in the sporting clays preliminaries, and secured a spot in the Junior Girls Sporting Clays Finals where she won the seventh place buckle. Gracie is an eighth grader at Corsicana Middle School and the daughter of Todd and Carrie Teetz. 25 other members of the club competed against nearly 600 4-H and FFA competitors shooting skeet, sporting clays, and Five-Stand held at the Greater Houston Sports Club.

At the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo Junior Shoot-Out, 28 members of the club competed against over 1200 4-H and FFA youth shotgun shooters at the National Shooting Complex in Sporting Clays, American Trap, Doubles Trap, and Super Sporting. Corsicana High School Senior Chandler Ware was able to qualify to compete in the highly coveted Sporting Clays Finals on Sunday. He is the son of Dennis and Laura Richards. Several members shot personal bests at one or both events which is a testament to hard work and focus.

Other members of the club competing at these shoots included: Jaxson Aten, Nicholas Aucamp, Ty Autrey, Cade Brown, Jacob Castillo, Dylan Dickerson, Molly Gamez, Matthew Grider, Eli Hagmeier, Reydin Hopper, Casen Montfort, Cole Montfort, Cade Nelson, Eli Payne, Jackson Rash, Ava Rodriguez, Romeo Rodriguez, Easton Smithart, Colt Steele, Lila Steele, Jet Tacker, Corbin Teetz, Paige Varner, Kash Ware, Laynie Ware, and Wyatt Ware.

Youth Shotgun Sports is one of the fastest growing youth sports in the nation teaching kids discipline, patience, concentration, and personal responsibility. The club would like to thank all of its sponsors who make participating in events like this possible.
