Juuse Saros makes 34 saves but Nashville Predators fall short vs Florida Panthers
The Nashville Predators returned to Bridgestone Arena on Monday to face the Florida Panthers after a three-game road trip.
The result was a 4-1 loss for the home team, their third loss in four games.
The Predators began the second period on the penalty kill, thanks to a hooking penalty on Yakov Trenin.
Four seconds into Trenin’s second penalty of the game, this one a slash, Sam Reinhart scored his 34th goal of the season to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
Fifty-seven seconds later, Predators defenseman Jeremy Lauzon evened the score with his fifth goal of the season.
Carter Verhaeghe’s goal 1:11 into the third pushed the Panthers ahead 2-1.
Brandon Montour and Matthew Tkachuk each added an empty-net goal late in the third period.
Predators goalie Juuse Saros stopped 34 shots.
Nashville (25-21-1) went 1-2 on its trip, which ended with a 3-2 loss to Arizona on Saturday. The Predators have a four-point lead over Arizona, Seattle and Calgary for the final wild-card spot.
Florida (28-14-4) is second in the Atlantic Division and is in a comfortable playoff position.
