Multiple NFL teams already reportedly will not pursue Ravens QB Lamar Jackson following non-exclusive franchise tag
The Baltimore Ravens used the non-exclusive franchise tag on quarterback Lamar Jackson before Tuesday’s 4pm EST deadline. The move means that Jackson will play on a $32.4 million cap charge in 2023 on a one-year deal, assuming he signs the tag. However, an extension, trade or deal with another team could still be in the cards.
With the non-exclusive tag, Jackson will be free to negotiate with other teams, and if he finds a deal he likes on the open market he can bring it back to Baltimore and give them the opportunity to match, or leave with the Ravens getting two first-round picks. However, it was reported over the course of Tuesday that multiple teams aren’t interested in the former league MVP, including the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers and others.
