Our Morris/Sussex girls lacrosse Top 10 heading into the NJSIAA Tournament

The Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex and Morris County Tournaments are over. Now it's on to the NJSIAA playoffs.

Senior attack Anna Szporn had two goals and three assists as Morristown earned its second straight MCT title on May 11, both against Chatham. Hunterdon Central, meanwhile, defeated North Hunterdon, 12-6, to win its eighth Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex title in the last nine years.

The NJSIAA Tournament cutoff is on Saturday. The brackets will be seeded based on LaxNumbers and released on Monday.

10. Mount Olive (12-3)

Last week: No. 10

Mount Olive concluded division play undefeated (7-0) in the Independence Blue, with two losses to West Morris. Junior Maggie Tilves (63g, 23a, 96dc, 15ft, 51gb) and sophomore Jenna Scheuten (47g, 17a, 71dc, 7ft, 39gb) are leading the way.

9. Randolph (6-10)

Last week: No. 9

Senior Alexis Rodell has 61 goals, 15 assists, 88 draw controls, 14 forced turnovers and 23 ground balls. The Rams have only one more shot at a Stars & Stripes Blue victory: the regular-season finale on Saturday against Westfield.

8. Madison (6-7)

Last week: No. 5

Juniors Gabby Mariani (39g, 12a, 85dc, 19ft, 71gb) and Hadley Holland (34g, 23a, 17dc, 13ft, 45gb) lead Madison in its first season in the Stars & Stripes Blue. The schedule doesn't get easier, with a crossover against Chatham up next – the first game of a Drew University doubleheader that also includes the Chatham and Mountain Lakes boys.

7. Mountain Lakes (6-9)

Last week: No. 4

Group 1 Mountain Lakes has had a rough road in the Stars & Stripes Blue, but reached an MCT semifinal. Senior Kayla Plotts leads the way with 50 goals, 38 draw controls and 22 ground balls.

6. Morris Knolls (6-9)

Last week: No. 8

Sophomore Lucia Nash (52g, 21a, 45dc, 25ft, 37gb) and junior Addy Walker (44g, 18a, 47dc, 14ft, 23gb) lead Morris Knolls. After an early six-game losing streak, the young Golden Eagles have won five of their last eight.

5. West Morris (11-4)

Last week: No. 7

Junior Lauren Carbon (36g, 10a, 89dc, 11ft, 22gb) reached 100 career points as West Morris snapped a two-game losing streak against Cranford on May 13. The Wolfpack has won five of seven, and can knock Sparta out of first place in the Freedom White with a victory on Friday.

4. Sparta (12-3)

Last week: No. 6

Junior midfielder Uma Kowalski has 74 goals, 10 assists, 70 draw controls, 22 forced turnovers and 29 ground balls. Sparta is tied with Montclair Kimberley atop the Freedom White, so the division title will be settled on the road this week.

Up next: Friday at West Morris, Saturday at West Essex, Tuesday at Montclair Kimberley

3. Mendham (9-6)

Last week: No. 3

Florida-bound senior Sophia Cardella (54g, 14a, 52dc, 14ft, 22gb) seems poised to be Mendham's leading scorer for the third year in a row, and she was second as a freshman. Four of the Minutemen's six losses are in the Stars & Stripes Red, where they have yet to win. However, they have won six of their last eight games.

2. Chatham (11-5)

Last week: No. 2

Juniors Ashlyn Carpenter (37g, 13a) and Grace Hallahan (35g, 7a, 89dc, 11gb, 9ft) and Princeton-bound senior Addison Barrett (31g, 10a, 32dc, 14gb, 12ft) lead Chatham. Two of the Cougars' five losses are to Morristown, once in the division and also the May 11 MCT final.

Up next: Friday vs. Madison at Drew University, Monday at Oak Knoll

1. Morristown (17-1)

Last week: No. 1

The back-to-back MCT champion and Stars & Stripes Red co-leader, Morristown seems poised to seize the top seed in Group 4 North. The Colonials' only loss came against division foe Summit, a Group 2 school, on May 3. Senior Cathleen Moran, a Temple University signee, has 57 goals and 13 assists.

Also considered: Jefferson (9-8), Pequannock (8-8), Park Regional (7-5), Roxbury (10-5), Vernon (8-7).
